New Portraits for a Professional Musician – “Headshots”

It’s a beginning of a New Year and it’s a great time to update your professional image by getting new profile portraits or as most people like to call them “headshots”.  January has found me doing some really fun portrait sessions and giving my clients something I am in desperate need of myself – a new headshot!  I love talking with clients first about what image they want to convey to their audience.  I then try to capture the best of them in that light

Aaron supported a local private school by purchasing a gift certificate that I donated.  He is an amazing musician and when he actually played a few notes I could tell he wasn’t just your normal brass player.  I probably should have encouraged more action shots 🙂

It wasn’t until after we met for his portrait session that I realized that he had actually taught and worked with my son in the Cuesta College Jazz Band Ensemble in San Luis Obispo, California.  We found some great backdrops in our little downtown of Atascadero.

Aaron brought several instruments including a vintage brass saxophone, a baritone saxophone, a clarinet and a flute plus a beautiful silver saxophone.  I could actually match his instrument to his outfit and the setting which was fun for me as the photographer.  I also loved that he brought a formal suit and then a more casual look with a hat for extra style points.

Good Luck Aaron in all your future endeavors!

James and Jenna’s Wedding at The Monday Club San Luis Obispo, California

Jenna and James said “I Do” on December 14th at The Monday Club in San Luis Obispo, California but it certainly didn’t feel like December with the sun shinning on the couple during their ceremony. How wonderful to enjoy such a beautiful outdoor garden wedding in December! Oh the benefits of being married and being a photographer here on the Central Coast.
James is from Australia and many of his family and guests made the long flight to be here to support the newlyweds! This is actually a wedding where there was so much love and happiness and it flowed so freely that even as a spectator I felt like I knew and adored the couple by the end of the night.
Congratulations on finding each other in this big world! Many good wishes as you start your new life together here and possibly in Australia. Wherever the roads may take you, may you look  back at these photos and remember the beautiful celebration that started your journey together.

Everyone assembled faster than I could get set up – Now that is impressive!  The toasts at this wedding had us all taking turns from laughing to crying….so very sweet!

Austin + Katie Say I Do – San Luis Obispo/ Atascadero Wedding

Katie and Austin enjoyed  the sweetest wedding.  Their families have lived in Atascadero and San Luis Obispo County for generations and so there was plenty of love flowing towards these high school sweethearts.

Such a beautiful November Day!  There will be much more of details of her reception at the Pavilion on Atascadero Lake  in the second part of this blog post – but here is a peek!Katie was wins my award for the happiest, most relaxed bride of the year!  She really enjoyed her day and soaked it all in. Austin and his guys looking fine against the autumn colors.Flowers by Brooke Edelman – LOVE the natural pallet with so many textures!  Did I say I love the flowers!!  She even included some succulents.  Brooke is so talented!  Click here for her Facebook PageIt’s been over a year since I’ve photographed a church wedding.  I have to admit I love our beautiful San Luis Obispo countryside as a back drop but it was refreshing to witness the traditional catholic wedding ceremony.
I was loving the light streaming through the stained glass windows.  A little difficult o balance the color but so beautiful none the less

I love this last picture of the wedding party.  I just told them they were done and I got the best celebration picture ever!

My Favorite of the Day I think – Although it is pretty difficult to choose
What a beautiful blue eyed bride!
The Historical Atascadero City Hall made for such a classical back drop!  I think it matches her wedding dress perfectly!

I want to share many more pictures so stay tuned for Part 2

Nick + Alicia San Luis Obispo Engagement at Bishops Peak

I met Nick and Alicia on a beautiful, sunny afternoon.  Even though it was November it was a balmy 70 degrees when we started at the base of the majestic Bishop’s Peak in San Luis Obispo, California.  (I love where I live!)

At the trail head there are so many photo opportunities with a forest area, rocks and the beautiful mini oak trees.   From here we rushed over the the beach to catch the sunset which I think I’ll save for another post.

I really enjoyed getting to know these two but more importantly I really enjoyed watching them interact with each other. It is obvious they make each other so happy!

I am so excited for there wedding coming up in Paso Robles at a fairly new venue – Hartley Farms.

Molly and Ryan’s Wedding at Kaleidoscope Gardens and Inn in Nipomo

Molly and Ryan’s wedding was set in the beautiful Kaleidoscope Gardens in Nipomo California.  I love the quaint feel of this darling Victorian house and cute garden nooks.

We started the day by meeting the bride and bridesmaids at The Cliffs in Pismo Beach.  It was fun to get a few pictures of the bridal party with the ocean as a background and then off to Nipomo Kaleidoscope Inn and Gardens
